Veterans Day E-Cards
Don't forget to send Veterans Day E-cards by 11/11/2010. The History of Veterans DayThe history of Veterans Day dates back to 1926 when Armistice Day became a U.S. holiday. Twelve years later it became a national holiday, and it wasn't until 1954 that the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all U.S. veterans of war. The official celebration is a time to pay respect to all those who fought during previous wars, and revolves around The Tomb of the Unknowns and other such memorials. Many people confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a time for remembering and honoring those who have lost their lives serving our country. While those who have died are still honored on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is a day to honor everyone who has fought for the U.S. cause. Veterans Day is spelled without an apostrophe (not Veteran's Day or Veterans' Day) because it is not a day that "belongs" to all veterans. It is a day for honoring them.
